The world of Islam has offered human heritage a story as rich as it is fascinating, but which the general public still struggles to grasp... Starting from the first verse of the Koran revealed to the abolition of the Caliphate at the beginning of the 20th Christian century, 101 great moments have been selected by us in order to provide the most representative picture of Islamic civilization possible. Dramatic or happy, the moments selected all have in common the fact of having more or less marked their contemporaries and more broadly history. A political history, but also a cultural, scholarly and spiritual one which, we hope, will be as pleasant to read as it was exciting for us to write.
