Life Here Below - Ibn Qudama - MuslimLife
Is it praiseworthy or blameworthy to acquire worldly goods?
Ibn Qudama said:
"Know that this world is a whole made up of certain elements which exist to benefit people.
For example, let us take the earth and all that is in it. It is a dwelling place for humans and contains clothing, food, drink and marriages. All of this assists human beings in their journey towards Allah.
Therefore, whoever takes from these things a share corresponding to what is useful to him and which has been legislated is praised.
But whoever takes a share greater than what he needs will fall into blame, and will pass from benefit to harm. He will become distracted from seeking the Hereafter."
